This course is designed to build confidence, stage presence, and performance skills while learning the technical and creative aspects of putting together a polished, show-stopping routine.

Whether you’re preparing for your first time on stage or looking to take your performances to the next level, Lights, Camera, Stage Ready is designed to help you build confidence, creativity, and presence through both practical training and performance theory.

Led by Angelique, who has been performing since the age of 6—with over 30 years of stage experience—you’ll be learning from someone who has lived and breathed performance her whole life. With a Cert IV in Performing Arts from Brent Street, a diploma in events and attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, and spent 4 years performing as a dancer on Carnival Cruise Lines. Angelique brings a wealth of knowledge from all corners of the entertainment industry. She has studied acting at NIDA, has performed in countless gigs all over Australia, worked as an extra in TVCs and film, and spent 4 years performing in Risqué Revue, Gin Mill Social and El Circo at Slide Lounge.

Over the course of 4 Sundays, you’ll explore:

  • Choreography, musicality & movement quality

  • Costuming, makeup, and DIY styling

  • Acting, character work, and storytelling

  • Props, strip, and performance presence

Each session runs for 3 hours (1.5 hours theory / 1.5 hours practical), with a 20-minute break between. You’ll also receive a complimentary 1.5-hour private session with Angelique—30 minutes to workshop ideas, concepts or ask questions, and a full hour to start building your own show-stopping routine.

Each session includes:
✅ 1 Theory Lesson – Deep dive into the key elements of performance, from concept creation to costuming.
✅ 1 Practical Lesson – Hands-on training in movement, choreography, and stage performance techniques.

Week 1: Intro to Performance & Pole Choreography

Theory: Performance Fundamentals & Key Terminology

  • Understanding what makes a captivating stage performance

  • Breaking down key performance terms (e.g., stage presence, character work, pacing, musicality)

  • How to create a routine from scratch – building a concept, storytelling, and structuring your act

  • Overcoming nerves & stage fright – mental prep, pre-show rituals & handling mistakes with confidence

Practical: Pole Choreography & Memorization Techniques

  • How to remember routines and prevent choreography blank-outs

  • Drills to enhance movement retention & body awareness

  • Understanding stage positioning and playing to the audience

Week 2: Props & Strip Work for Theatrical Impact

Theory: How to Use Props & Strip in a Routine

  • When and how to incorporate props for maximum effect

  • Choosing props that enhance movement rather than distract from it

  • The art of striptease & burlesque elements – making it elegant, playful, or dramatic

  • Working with gloves, jackets, skirts, and other removable costume pieces

Practical: Burlesque Strip & Prop Class

  • Hands-on burlesque strip technique – learning graceful, confident removals

  • Working with props like canes, chairs, feather boas & fans

  • Floorwork & movement sequences incorporating props

  • Practicing flirty, powerful, or seductive character work

Week 3: Costuming, Hair & Makeup + Acting for Performance

Theory: Costuming 101 – Styling for Stage

  • How to build a stage-ready costume

  • Choosing materials & designs that look good under stage lighting

  • Bedazzling & DIY costume hacks

  • How to avoid wardrobe malfunctions & quick-change tricks

  • Basics of performance hair & makeup – stage-proof looks & staying put under the lights

Practical: Acting 101 – Expressing Character on Stage

  • How to embody different performance personas

  • Playing with facial expressions & body language

  • Using eye contact & projection to connect with the audience

  • Learning dramatic vs. subtle expression work

  • Exercises in character transitions & storytelling through movement

Week 4: Musicality, Choreography & Dance Fundamentals

Theory: Musicality & Routine Structure

  • Understanding musical beats & phrasing

  • How to match movement to music for an engaging routine

  • Learning when to hit a beat, hold stillness, or move with flow

  • Choreography structure & transitions for seamless performances

Practical: Dance 101 + Heels Class

  • How to improve movement quality through classical dance techniques

  • Learning ballet fundamentals for better posture, extension, and grace

  • Refining lines, shapes & dynamic flow
